I’ve heard so many different things about what you should or shouldn’t do for your vow renewals and I’m hear to debunk some of those things. I really don’t like others telling you what you can and can’t do on your wedding day and I think vow renewals are no different. I’m going to get right to it.
Vow Renewal Do’s:
Do invite whoever you want to witness you and your love sharing your vows once again. I also suggest having at least your kids there to watch you recommit to each other.
Do write your own vows. OR If it’s not your think to write, don’t be afraid to use traditional vows.
Do wear whatever dress you want. I’ve heard time and time again not to wear a wedding dress. Why? Why not? I honestly think that’s bogus and you should wear what you want. Also, where the bright red elegant dress if you want to. Be you. Do you and if you want a chance at a different wedding dress, then do it.
Do think of all the little details. Do you want a bouquet or an intimate little dinner? Do you want a little reception or heck, maybe even a big part to celebrate?
Do go somewhere epic if you want! Maybe you’ve been wishing you got married at the top of a mountain. Now’s your chance. Do it.
Do get your hair and makeup all done. Maybe it’s time to treat yourself to getting pampered the morning of.
Do have a first look if you want. Maybe you’ve dreamed of having that moment again. Then let’s plan it!
Vow Renewal Don’ts:
Don’t be afraid to plan your day to be as much like a wedding as you’d like. Maybe you didn’t get the wedding of your dreams and now you can have it. Then do it friend!
Don’t think you have to wait for a special anniversary. If the time or year is right, then do it! We don’t need to postpone just because we feel like we need to wait for a special year like your 10th or 15th wedding anniversary. Maybe you are ready and it’s your 12th. Then make it happen.
Don’t forget to bring any and all accessories that you want. Maybe you are dreaming of wearing a hat, or that sweet jacket you’ve got your eye on, or that Pendleton blanket won’t get out of your mind. Bring it.
Ok. I think that is enough. My point with all of this is to be you and do you. So often we let other’s view points in and don’t consider our own. Let’s make your Vow Renewal the best thing for you!
