5 Ways to Take Better Pictures with your Phone

1. Light

The more light you have shining down on your subject, the better the picture will be. Make sure you open up your curtains. Move your body around to where you aren’t blocking the natural light that is coming in. Make sure that the light is streaming down on the side of your subject. Some shadows are good friends! Don't put your subject directly in the light if you can help it.

2. Focus on the Eyes

If you are taking pictures of a person, tap on the screen where their eye is located. Choose the closest eye that you can see to focus on. You want their eye to be in focus and to be the center of attention. It will draw you in and leave you with a great picture.

3. Back Up

Put your subject farther away from the background and then move farther away from the subject. This will create a smaller depth of field and allow for a more creative image. You can always zoom in friends, but you can never back up again if you missed the image.

4. Change your Perspective

You don’t always have to take a picture of your subject from a standing position. Grab a chair or a bench and get above your subject. Lay down on the ground. Enjoy looking at your subject from a different perspective than you normally would and take multiple images.

5. Frame Right or Left

You don’t always have to place your subject in the middle of the picture. To add a more creative feel, place your subject to the right third or left third of your framing. This will give your picture a better composition that will draw everyone’s eyes.

And if you made it this far....Here is a little bonus for you.

CLEAN YOUR LENS FRIENDS!!!

Think about it for a minute. You throw your phone around in your pocket, bag and you touch that lens all the time. Just give it a quick clean with a clean non abrasive cloth and the cloudiness will disappear automatically giving you a cleaner image.

What do you think? Ready to tackle taking more pictures? Or maybe you just want to book a session instead. That's ok too. Let's do it. Book here.
